When maintaining pre-waxed wood it is advisable to use a clear wax (Fiddes have a very lightly tinted wax called 'Light' for paler, wood coloured surfaces and a wax with no pigment at all called 'Clear' for painted surfaces or for surfaces which require no colour change). Additional coats offer an improved patina and overall durability. Fresh wax coats can be applied annually or as required. Repair Rugger Brown – This is a tone of brown mainly used on hardwoods such as Oak and Walnut but is also a good alternative on Elm and Pine woods for a slightly darker shade. The Clear / Light variant is suitable for use as a final finish after using Fiddes Liming Wax. We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. Sand the surface using a fine sanding paper or pad. Always sand in the direction of the grain and remove any blemishes etc. prior to the application. Remove all sanding dust and test the chosen shade to ensure you are happy with the colour. Light Driftwood- a light, natural clear colour. Similar to a pine colour bringing out the natural colour and features of the timber. On bare or stripped woods, Sand the surface to a smooth finish in the direction of the grain. Stain the wood if necessary. On open grained woods, you can stain and seal using a Shellac Sealer, but this is optional. Apply the Supreme wax using very fine 0000 wire wool or buffing cloth in the direction of the grain and allow soaking into the wood. Remove any excess and then once dry, buff to the desired sheen level. Several coats may be added to build further sheen and protection. This can be used on all bare interior woods or furniture.

Application can be by cloth, brush or sponge. If applying to an open grained bare wood it would be best to apply a coat of Shellac Sanding Sealer first to provide a base for a more consistent and resilient finish. After application, allow to dry for about 3 minutes before buffing with a soft cloth. For larger areas a drill buffing brush can be used. Applying additional coats will deepen the existing colour or shade and significantly enhance the resulting sheen level. As each piece of timber is unique, there may be slight colour variations throughout your furniture, and even on a single board, as the wax/stain is applied. Several coats may be added as the Wax provides a depth of finish that revives and protects any original patina of your wood. Please bear in mind that colour charts are intended as a guide only and actual results achieved may vary. It is good practice to do a test patch on a discrete area to establish the end result. Next using very fine 0000 wire wool, or buffing cloth apply Fiddes Supreme Wax Polish in the direction of the grain onto the surface and remove any excess.

Grey Wash- a light natural colour bringing out the character and natural colour of the timber together with subtle hints of grey which varies in different lights. We have a selection of oak fireplace beams and mantels suitable for any fireplace, whether it’s natural or cleaned, curved or straight. These fireplace beams will create a magnificent feature in any room.

Benches are typically made 30cm shorter than table lengths to allow them to slide underneath for space saving. If you wish to seat people at the table ends, please request this to allow the bases to be set further in. Benches will not then slide fully underneath. Also available in 7 other shades: Cherry, Light Brown, Forest Brown, Stripped Pine, Antique Brown, Jacobean, and Light.
