The UK has continued to work with other countries to deliver on the Glasgow Climate Pact and drive further action. At COP27, under Egypt’s Presidency, Parties agreed under the Sharm El Sheikh Implementation Plan to maintain momentum and ambition for ocean-climate action, building on the Glasgow Climate Pact, by improving the annual dialogue process, encouraging national ocean-based action, and recognising the impact of climate change on the cryosphere. People Given the exceptional size of the painting and the hazards of travel early in its life, a certain amount of old damage is inevitable. A complex of old lines of restoration in the upper right area of the painting may stem from crumpling, probably in those early years. This mainly affects the upper right corner of the sky, just intruding down into the cornice of the building below on the right and more rarely further down the façade below. The left of the sky, on the other hand, is virtually clear of interruptions, with a fine sweep of largely intact paint, apart from old retouching along the edges.

Algol normally shines at magnitude 2.1, similar to the nearby star Almach (aka Gamma Andromedae). But while fully dimmed, Algol's brightness of magnitude 3.4 is almost identical to Rho Persei (or Gorgonea Tertia or ρ Per), the star sitting just two finger widths to Algol's lower right (or 2.25 degrees to the celestial south). All 197 Parties agreed to the Glasgow Climate Pact, agreeing collectively to work to reduce the gap between existing emissions reduction plans and what is required to reduce emissions, so that the rise in global average temperature can be limited to 1.5 degrees. The Glasgow Climate Pact, combined with increased ambition across adaptation, finance and mitigation, means that 1.5 degrees remains in sight, but only with concerted and immediate global efforts to achieve a worldwide net zero transition.

Only the brightest stars are visible to our unaided eyes on moonlit-flooded nights. In the western sky on Tuesday evening, Nov. 28, the very bright star Vega in the constellation of Lyra the Harp will be descending the western sky. At magnitude 0.0, it's the 5th brightest star in the entire sky (not counting our sun). Of course changes in the Arctic do also open up new commercial avenues. And the people of the Arctic should benefit from those opportunities. The star Algol in the constellation of Perseus represents the glowing eye of Medusa from Greek mythology. In ‘Looking North’, we have adapted our approach in response to the evolving influences on the Arctic. The UK will continue to engage with our Arctic partners and Allies to contribute to ongoing critical Arctic Council work, and we will continue to contribute expertise and research to the Council’s Working Groups and Expert Groups. We look forward to engaging with the incoming Norwegian Chairmanship from May 2023, including to look for further opportunities to enhance our contribution to the work of the Council in areas of mutual interest and global importance, such as climate change and marine pollution.
