Palate: The hints of strawberry and darker berries are live up to in the taste. Definitely more astringent with a much longer finish. Palate: Very satiny texture with a sophisticated, chic layering. The hints that the aroma gave you live up to expectations. The longer aging has definitely imbued more oak characteristics, but the Malaga rounds all of the tannins off while complimenting the sweetness of the barley.

I think the distillery DNA mixed well with the ex-Madeira cask influence; giving this whiskey a very uncommon but delicious profile. Because I’m a fan of Madeira and whiskey with round textures, this ended up being my favorite among the four.The Irish will tell you they invented whiskey-making, and it wasn’t until the Middle Ages that Irish monks brought distilling techniques across the waters to Scotland.
