Description

I think this book was somewhat of a disappointment as it contains nothing that we don't already know and have seen and read. I’m ready to tell my story and to give something back to my fans who have been with me from the beginning. Cleaning the mats multiple times a day is mandatory at a gym with a high number of sessions and a good number of people on the mats. Maintenance can also be far more of a burden in a grappling gym because the mats are a breeding ground for staph infection, ringworm and all kinds of other unpleasant maladies that are part and parcel of the grappling game. The book is as objective as it is possible to be unless you believe someone can, or should, be neutral on racism and Islamophobia as legitimate tactics to sell tickets.

He has big engagement from his dedicated 16k Twitter followers and 15k YouTube subscribers, and has appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience - one of the world's most popular podcasts, with some 16 million downloads a month. You get the story of McGregor's journey and the analytical/technical aspects of his fights explained in great detail. The endless blow by blow accounts of every match become something of a battle to get through themselves, and I found myself skipping paragraphs just to get to the more interesting and high profile fights later in the book. But through stubbornness and self-belief, combined with a remarkable work ethic and an open and keen mind for the intricacies of martial arts, McGregor would come to outgrow the fight game itself and muscle out other famous athletes from more mainstream sports in the headlines of the world's back pages. If you want an in-depth analysis of McGregor's rise to the top on a fight-by-fight basis, breaking down the techniques and strategies in play and McGregor's development as a fighter, look no further.

The book reflects less on McGregor the person, the showman ship and hype, and more on his fighting style and how it translated to his success in MMA.He was a brown belt at the time, and seeing him in action reiterated everything I had already thought about jiu-jitsu. I’ve read a lot of books on the laws of attraction, and in my home I have a big book on Muhammad Ali, which I’ve read, because he is like a hero of mine, but other than that, no, I’m not a big reader. The book covers everything in an adequate and readable manner; I read it quickly and wasn't at any point bored. A lot of times people believe in certain things but they keep it to themselves, they don't put it out there.
