Inside Charles and Camilla's state dinner: King and Queen enjoyed lobster ravoli andsalmon as part of eight-course feast in Nairobi Bradley Cooper sweetly holds hands with daughter Lea, 6, as they enjoy an after-school ice cream run in NYC Then there are all the satisfying steps along the way – seeing the child do better at school, receiving your first hug from them, or seeing their face on Christmas morning when they haven’t experienced Christmas before,’ she says.I hadn’t seen them for 40 years, but they played such a big part in my life. When you consider the fractured childhood I’ve had, I’ve been very fortunate. My foster family laid the foundations for what I’ve become. I owe them so much.’ Damaged is the heartbreaking No. 1 Sunday Times bestselling true story of Jodie. Only eight years old, she is violent, aggressive, and has already been through numerous foster families. Her last hope is Cathy Glass… This is the 'first' (as in the first written, not chronologically) book by foster carer Cathy Glass, and of the three I have read so far this is by far the most harrowing.

I feel they’re going on to a good home, a home where they can stay and feel secure.Cathy Glass is a foster carer with twenty years of experience and said: "Jodie was the most disturbed and abused child I had ever looked after". I appreciate how much the author tried to help Jodie by, obviously, doing her job. I found her to be an amazing person with an amazing heart. And on a last note, this book shows how social services breaks down and some of the problems involved with these "so-called" social workers. Cathy does make excuses for some of them but in my opinion there is no room for error when we are talking about the safety and well-being of chldren. Jodies social worker in the book SHOULD not only be fired from her position but prohibited from working with children ever again. It's people like her that allowed this little girls life to be ruined when they could of saved her when she was first put on the "at risk" list. What is wrong with these people? How could anyone turn a blind eye to such a situation, I just don't understand that. Makes me very sad.

Yes, some characters reappear across several books. These include children such as Tayo, Jodie, and Dawn, as well as various mothers and care workers. And while I’ve chosen to take on children aged three to 16, others prefer to take only babies or under-tens or teenagers. Some people even do specialist fostering, such as remand fostering or pre-adoption fostering.’ Strictly's Katya Jones leaves rehearsals with dance partnerNigel Harman as she's seen for the first time since splitting from William Abbotts

It was evil, what they allowed to happen to her. Jodie’s case was exceptionally sad.’ I don’t normally read this type of book, but as my wife finished it so I started it. Well done Cathy Glass for bringing this to our attention. I hope the social workers read it!
