I continued shooting and the nice lady kept telling me what each pellet had done. Then it occurred to me that if my smart phone was recording each shot, perhaps it was also making a list, just like the ones I always used to make on paper. Sure enough, it was! Last shot Capable of recording velocities from 400-4000FPS it has applications for both Airguns and full bore rifles alike. Stop guessing the performance of your setup and tune your gun / reloads to finest of degrees.

Now, some of you don’t own a chronograph yet and you want to know whether this one can be used in all situations. I don’t know the answer to that, but it’s one of the things I plan on looking into. Summary In the chronograph world, you really only have two options: The expensive complicated units that give you most of what you need, but cost far too much, or the cheaper models that are outdated, not very portable, are light-sensitive/dependent, and often break easily. It should be pretty obvious in the first picture how this chronograph is mounted. It clamps directly on your gun’s barrel. What about pistols? We’ll explore that later. The initial version of the app left other more important things to be desired. The list included: a readout that shows the Max, Min and Average velocities as well as the extreme spread (ES) and standard deviation (SD) of a string; the ability to switch between units of measurement and between muzzle velocityMV) and muzzle energy (ME) without editing the gun profile. Plus, the export of complete profile and session data to the clipboard; and not having the app drop the Bluetooth connection each time you switch profiles, or open another window on your phone, a small thing, but properly annoying!

This chronograph needs three AAA batteries. They fit inside a battery compartment that’s held shut by a single screw. Replacing that screw was the hardest thing I did during the setup. The chronograph uses Bluetooth to connect to an iOS or Android app, as well as to the separately available FX Digital Chronograph Display, and shows information such as FPS, shot strings, extreme spread, standard deviation, and more, while also allowing users to store profiles for multiple rifles. It uses Doppler radar technology, so it works in all weather conditions and does not require light to operate. Please note that your goods may be sent to you in instalments as availability of products can vary. For example certain products have specific delivery requirements which are explained below. When I tested the same rifle and pellet at the same power level in September 2019 the average was 941 f.p.s. and the spread went from a high of 958 down to 933 — a 25 f.p.s. difference. Based on just that we see that the two chronographs agree closely. But I will still test them together in the future. I like this chrono! The chronograph market has traditionally been dominated by optical models (Caldwell, CED, Chrony, Combro, ProChrono) that use the shadow cast by a projectile shot over a pair of light sensors to measure its velocity. As anyone who has used one knows, function depends entirely on having the right kind of ambient light and shooting over the chrono can all too easily lead to it being damaged or destroyed. Vocal shout outs for each shot can enable smooth target grouping at the range, just listen to the result and don’t take your eye off the target. There is also a slot on the bottom side that allows you to mount the chrono on an edge, for example a fence. The chronograph itself is a wireless radar-based chronograph. It communicates via Bluetooth to either your smart phone or the FX Chrono-graph Display (sold separately). The app (available for both iOS and Android) does more than just show the feet per second of the projectile. It allows users to store multiple rifle profiles, shows shot strings, standard deviations, extreme spreads and much more. The True Ballistic Radar Chronograph measures actual speeds at four different velocities readings from 0 - 300yrds to determine actual ballistic coefficient using G1/G7 drag models. This provides actual data in your conditions, info that provides the difference between a hit and a miss. Whats it worth to you to hit your target? Use the on board display or connect to the FX Radar app to get more out of the ballistic data. Features
