Once you have successfully removed the moss from your driveway, it’s important to take steps to prevent it from regrowing. Here are some tips to help keep your driveway moss-free:

Resin Cleaner: If you already have a resin driveway installed where moss and algae tend to grow, using a resin cleaner can help keep the surface clean and prevent them from reappearing. These products are typically applied with a brush or low-pressure washer. You should always try and keep the area clean and remove leaves and anything that causes shade across the area, especially during the winter months. Brushing the surface occasionally will help and does not take too much effort. In addition, you can treat it every 10 - 14 months; simply brush the surface and, on a dry day, apply a new coat of BATICLEAN CR. Each product gives a different length of time that the treated ground needs to stay dry for, from 8 hours to several days. Be sure to plan for this and for any other restrictions identified for when you can use the product. Safety Preventive Measures: Prevention is always better than a cure. You can prevent moss from growing on your tarmac surface by regular cleaning, trimming overhanging trees, and improving drainage. Additionally, it is important to keep the surface free from debris to prevent the accumulation of dirt and moisture.

After you’ve effective cleared your tarmac driveway surface with a brush, apply your chosen moss treatment to the area. The application may differ depending on the type you’ve chosen. You may have to pour or spray the product. Once this is done, leave the product on for between 15 and 30 minutes. After you’ve cleaned up and it’s all dry, you can coat again as a preventative measure and don’t need to worry about the kids and dogs. Just let it dry again of course – it’s biodegradable and so once dry not active.

If you live in an area that gets a lot of wet weather – which is pretty much the whole of the UK, unfortunately – defending your tarmac from moss is an uphill battle. Simply apply vinegar to the root, and leave the substance to soak for several hours until the plant dries out and turns orange, then pull up the moss or scrub the surface with a stiff brush. Baking Soda If the moss growth is persistent or widespread, you may need to use a cleaning agent to effectively remove it. A solution of warm water and mild detergent or soap can be used to clean the driveway. Apply the solution to the affected areas and scrub with a brush. Rinse thoroughly with water afterwards. 3. Pressure Washer Some moss killers are also ready to use straight out of the container, so you won’t have to worry about mixing the chemicals with water and finding a ratio that works. These products are much simpler to use and negate the risk of skin irritation and burns that mixing the chemical may present. Some Natural Alternatives to Kill Moss Vinegar If moss growth persists or becomes a recurring problem, consult a professional for advice on ongoing maintenance.

If your moss problem is on your driveway, fence, or just about any other hard surface, Pro-kleen’s simply spray &walk away moss killer should be right at the top of your shopping list. It is easy to mix, all you do is use one part concentrate to four parts water and you’re good to go. Then use any garden sprayerto apply it to the moss infected surface and wait for it to start working. Just like the name says ‘simply spray & walk away”. Grass can face some really harsh environments over the winter, with moss running riot thanks to the cool, damp conditions. Whilst a lot of moss killers contain ingredients that are best suited to use in spring/summer, it’s useful to have something on hand that can take care of lawn health during the colder months.

This is not the best option for roofs or lawns, as the pressure that loosens the moss can also break off other materials you want to stay in place. Homemade Moss Killer for Roofs Leave the baking soda for a few hours to absorb the moisture from the moss, and either pull out the dead plants or scrub the area with a stiff brush to clean your patio or path. Boiling Water Keep the area around your driveway clean and free from leaves, twigs, and other debris that can accumulate and provide a habitat for moss. One of the easiest and cheapest ways to remove moss is by using a scraper or brush. Simply scrape off the moss from the surface of your driveway. Be careful not to damage the resin material while doing so. 2. Hot WaterSold as a 2.5 L bottle, this moss killer is diluted with water and sprayed onto the garden. Compared to granular or powder products this is a much cleaner application, which can also result in a more even coverage. The product dissipates through the water, leaving no highly-concentrated areas, so when applied with either a sprayer or a watering can there’s less chance of it scorching the grass.
