Everyone struggling with storage space needs to consider size limitations before they buy from the Henry vacuum cleaner range. The smaller models will work best for smaller homes – but come with less dust bin capacity. We recommend the Henry Micro for smaller homes. The largest of the Henry vacuums is the George, which is a 4-in-1… although the Charles comes close. Colour & Style

A unique aero-brush is great if you have pets in the house. It provides an outstanding level of cleaning with carpets and is the perfect tool for cleaning up pet hairs, as well as those bits of pet food that don’t quite stay in the bowl and other edibles such as cat grass. A hard floor brush means it can continue cleaning on hard floor surfaces while a 10m power cable provides extensive reach. First introduced more than four decades ago, the range has evolved considerably, and although the distinctive red Henry is perhaps the most recognisable member of the expanding family, he’s far from the only option. With varying collection chamber sizes, attachments, motors and tool sets, it’s not always obvious which is the best for your needs. Add to that all the usual benefits of the Henry range such as 9 litre capacity, a sturdy frame and reliable, long-lasting performance and you have the perfect addition for any pet lover’s home. In addition to the basic vacuum, the HVR200 comes with Numatic's AS1 stainless steel accessory kit. This includes extension tubes, soft brush and a harder cleaner. Best Wet Cleaning – the best wet cleaner could be the George, but the Charles does a great job of cleaning up wet spills, too. It just doesn’t have the added extras and 4-in-1 capacity of the George.

Henry Allergy

Aside from the cordless features, this vacuum is very similar to the standard Henry Compact. It has a much larger dust capacity than most cordless vacs, but is also heavier and bulkier. It also includes similar accessories and on-board tool storage to Henry. He offers a combination of a highly efficient Twin-flo bypass vacuum motor and a Powerflo pump system which delivers professional cleaning standards anywhere and at any time. It draws much of its design from the Numatic Cleantec range of professional vacuum cleaners designed to deliver unbeatable professional results every single time. It's also surprisingly lightweight considering its size and power. While 9kg isn't light for a vacuum cleaner (some cordless models weigh as little as 2kg) this is only 1kg heavier than the standard Henry.

Charles is designed to shine in the wet – and this is indeed where it has the edge over the competition. Having a vacuum which can clean up spillages is a major bonus. If you’ve ever had a big spill in your home or even had a problem with the plumbing you know exactly how difficult it can be to clean it up. Not with a Charles in the house. READ NEXT: The best cordless vacuum cleaners How to choose the right Henry vacuum for you 1. Henry: The compact, flexible choice The Henry Xtra is still a great cylinder vacuum cleaner in its own right, but in our opinion if you’re choosing between the Xtra and Henry it’s only really worth the additional cost if you have pets that leave stubborn pet hair around the home. Henry is a fixture of homes and offices nationwide. Designed and built in Britain, the quirky vacuums have a reputation for ease of use, effectiveness and durability, with many still going strong after decades of faithful sweeping. That’s no surprise: according to manufacturer Numatic, every Henry is “designed, tested and engineered to last a whopping 25 years”. In the 70’s Numatic had grown so much that they moved from Crewkerne to Yeovil and added a commercial vacuum cleaner to their product list. The NV-2 and the NV-250 were bigger than Henry, made out of steel for long wear, and are still being used in some facilities to this day. Whatever you say about the Henry range, these are machines that were built to last from the very beginning. There is a saying about things not being made the way they used to be with Henry this just isn’t true. They were always built to last.Alas, there is no choice. All of the Henry vacuum cleaners in the range are floor vacuums. That just means that they don’t stand upright, and that they roll around on the floor on wheels. You drag the vacuum along behind you while you use the hose. Now that we have described the range in more detail, we want to pass on the information you need to make the best decision over what Henry vacuum is right for you. To help your decision, we listed what each model is best used for, as follows: A thing to note is that this vacuum cleaner may not be suitable if you want an appliance to vacuum your home and car. It is a bulky vacuum cleaner and, again, it is corded so unless you have a driveway or a guaranteed parking space outside your home, the Henry Pet may not be the vacuum cleaner for you. Hard Floor Tool - The Hard Floor Tool’s special design (featuring fine bristles to the front and rear) delivers peak suction performance on all types of hard floor — laminate, tiles, vinyl and wood.

As its core, the Reach is the Henry Compact. This means the vac has a six litre capacity, 10 metre power cord and a 620W motor. It's slightly heavier than the compact, but only by 0.2kg. Detailed below are what you should look for – or what you should ask yourself – before you buy your Henry vacuum cleaner. Dust Bin Capacity If you want a home vacuum that's a step up from the standard Henry - and don't mind paying extra - the Henry Xtra is the one to buy. The extra turbo tool and hard floor head mean it's great for cleaning almost any surface. As with all Numatic vacuums, the Harry is highly durable and relatively quiet. It's awkward to use on stairs or in tight spaces, although it makes up for this with a range of attachments and energy efficient motor. One of the great aspects of this is its allergy retention, which is great for those of us who start sneezing every time the dust gets agitated. You can buy two types of filters - aftermarket and genuine. We highly recommend the genuine filters as sometimes aftermarket filters can be of quite poor quality.

While the traditional Henry has an A class energy efficiency rating, other models don’t match it. The worst is actually the Harry, which has a C class energy efficiency rating. It is important because a higher consumption vacuum cleaner will use more, costing you more in power. They aren’t as environmentally friendly either, so if being E-friendly is important to you the basic Henry is the better model. Size & Shape The Henry vacuum cleaner range covers a number of price points. The more expensive models, like the George, do more things than the models that don’t cost as much. Adversely, the cheapest Henry Vacuum is likely to be the original version. You would think that you paid less for less dustbin capacity (like what you get with the James, where you sacrifice dustbin space for storage) but this isn’t the case. What is a Class Rating?

Floorplans

The combi floor tool typically comes with the Henry, Henry Xtra, Henry Allergy, James, Hetty, Henry Wash, George and Charles. It should fit all Numatic models.
