There was so much going on in this neighborhood. I loved it. It was a little Desperate Housewives -ish. Well played Ms. Lapena! I was all in from the beginning to the end, completely gripped. Sometimes, forgetting to take a breath. This is how you do it, ladies and gents! Shari Lapena is the Queen of the Suspense Genre! Riveting read by the New York Times bestselling author of The Couple Next Door…Fast-paced with lots of twists and turns and an ending I didn't see coming.” Still writing to this very day she is a mother of two teenagers, something which has also allowed her to write for younger readers in the past too. This has carried her through an ever impressive literary career, something which she continues to this very day as a full-time author. With a lot more set to come on the horizon it doesn’t appear that she’s stopping any time soon either, as her career grows from strength-to-strength. In Someone We Know, Raleigh, a teenage boy, is the person of interest in a series of home break-ins. What was your inspiration for the book, and how does it compare to your previous thrillers?

Psychological thrillers like to toy with the characters’ and the readers’ perceptions. Where did your sympathies lie as the story unfolded? How did they shift as the story progressed? Paul feels the need to employ an attorney since their son broke the law. Even though Olivia agrees, she takes it upon herself to type out anonymous notes of apology to be left in plain white envelopes at the homes Raleigh entered. Ironically, one of the homes was that of Robert Pierce, while the other was a relatively new person to the neighborhood, a woman named Carmine Torres, who lives alone. A] well-sculpted domestic thriller . . . highly suspenseful . . . Twists are subtly revealed with aplomb, taking the story to increasingly unpredictable levels.” It was at the last communal barbecue, about a year ago, that new arrival Amanda Pierce - a gorgeous young brunette with long tan legs - caught everyone's eye. Each character seemed like a potential suspect at various points throughout the story. I'd like to say I figured out the ending pretty early on but NOPE! I never actually figured it out until it was explained in detail at the end the book. This compelling and realistic modern take on the country-house mystery will gain new fans for the author and is definitely one to hand to devotees of Agatha Christie (and her modern interpreter, Sophie Hannah).”

Your plots have many twists. How do you come up with these plot turns? Do you plan everything out beforehand or do you see where the story takes you? A masterful whodunnit, perfectly paced and expertly plotted, that had me guessing all the way through' C L Taylor Attending a number of events as well, she is also very well known as a spokesperson for her craft as well. Conducting readings of her work she reaches a whole variety of different audiences and readers with her material. This also allows her to express herself and her writing, giving it a unique voice, seeing people respond to it in the process. Throughout the book, there were several big reveals centering around people's involvement with Amanda and Richard Pierce. It made me wonder how many of those things would have happened if Amanda and Richard had moved to a different neighborhood. In other words, would the cheater / cheaters eventually have cheated on their spouse if the Pierces had not moved into the neighborhood. Did they always have it within them or was that behavior brought out due to circumstances. Deep thoughts... This story explores the concept of how far a person will go to protect someone they love and how little people may actually know about the people they feel closest to. How far would a parent go to protect their child, how far husbands or wifes would go to protect each other and how far a person is willing to push their moral limits to protect that person.

I love reading Shari’s books. I introduced her to my grandmother. Now, my grandmother and I read them together. She is in Pennsylvania and I’m in Alabama. Reply Olivia and Paul Sharpe take their son to a criminal lawyer, who advises them to DO NOTHING. The attorney points out that, if Raleigh's actions come to light he could be charged with breaking and entering, which is a serious crime. This is a clever whodunit with enough layers and suspects to keep me guessing right up to the end. A teenage boy has a secret habit that unknowingly exposes his neighbor’s darkest secrets. When his mother sends anonymous notes to her neighbors warning them, she stirs up a hornet’s nest of secrets and lies.

I have to say I could not put this book down! It is a who done it but it is so well done! I have never read this author before but I can tell you I will be reading more from her! Olivia and Glenda soon have more to talk about as the police investigation into Amanda's death reveals suspicious behavior all over Aylesford…..as well as many cases of marital infidelity. Although her last book was an "Agatha Christie" style mystery, this one is more like her first two books, returning to a neighborhood FULL of secrets. Suspicion and betrayal are a constant thread in Someone We Know. Is anyone in the book true to anyone else?

Lies, adultery, and murder roil a Hudson Valley neighborhood in Lapena’s ( An Unwanted Guest, 2018, etc.) latest domestic thriller. Psychological thrillers like to toy with characters’ and readers’ perceptions. Where did your sympathies lie as the story unfolded? How did they shift as the story progressed? I think I loved Raleigh, I know what he did was wrong but at least he was brave enough to endure the consequences. And Olivia might be the most decent character. Even if it’s silly move to make her son write apologizing letters and put them in the P.O boxes of the victims were fair and honest actions. An intriguing cast, an isolated location, a raging storm and the threat of death in every dark corner: An Unwanted Guestreads like Agatha Christie with a shot of adrenalin. Clear your desk before you start it because you won’t want to put it down.”
